Concrete-Block Waterproofing

It is important to note, that Masonry Sealing issues have been more prevalent on newer construction, particularly homes built during the Chicago housing boom, and homes built with Spit-Face or Concrete-Block Masonry construction.

Newer homes and buildings built with Concrete-Block, Spit-Face Masonry and some types of brick are susceptible to unusually high amounts of water penetration into their outer walls.

This is due to the Porous nature of the masonry used in their construction, so ultimately any large amounts of water penetration into the walls can result in interior water damage, and also structural damage to wood floor joists that pocket into those masonry walls.

On a Sealed building, you should see water beading up on the masonry walls after a good rain, if not, or if you see big water stains, it is probably time to have your Masonry Sealed. Contact us for a Free Inspection.
